Lotte World vs Everland: Which Seoul Theme Park Fits Your Trip?

Updated October 17, 2026

Short answer: Pick Lotte World Adventure if you want an easy half-day or full day inside Seoul, you are travelling with younger kids, or the weather looks bad. Most of the park is indoors, and it connects to Jamsil Station (Lines 2 and 8). Pick Everland if you want the bigger outdoor park, the safari and animals, gardens, and the famous wooden coaster now called Monimo RUSH (formerly T Express). Everland is outside Seoul and needs a full day and good weather.

Basis date: checked against the official Lotte World Adventure site (adventure.lotteworld.com), the official Everland site (everland.com) and VISITKOREA on 15 October 2026. Hours, prices, ride closures, transport and queue systems change often, so confirm your exact date on the official pages before you go.

1. Location and how to get there

Lotte World Adventure: straight from the subway

The park’s official directions page lists Jamsil Station Exit 4 on Line 2 and Line 8, and VISITKOREA notes a passage that connects the station directly to the park. New to the subway? See our Seoul Subway Complete Guide.

Everland: plan the trip out of Seoul

The official Everland transport page gives three main ways in:

  • Subway + EverLine + free shuttle: take the Bundang Line to Giheung Station, change to the EverLine light rail and ride to the last stop, Jeondae·Everland. A free shuttle runs from there to the park: first bus 7:30, last bus one hour after park closing, every 5 to 10 minutes.
  • Regular buses from Seoul: Everland lists bus 5002 (Gangnam), 4105 (Myeong-dong, Seoul Station), 5700 (Jamsil) and 1500-2 (Sadang), among others.
  • Shuttle (tour) buses: paid buses from central Seoul, booked through the tour companies Everland lists. Some routes are phone-only or weekend-only.

Treat Everland as a day trip and check return times before you leave. For fares, use a transport card; see Climate Card vs Tmoney, and check whether a Seoul-only pass covers trips outside Seoul.

2. Indoor vs outdoor: what the weather means

Lotte World has two parts. The indoor Adventure area (plus Underland and the Kiddie Zone) runs whatever the weather. The outdoor Magic Island sits on Seokchon Lake and holds big rides such as Atlantis and Gyro Drop. Lotte World’s schedule page says some Magic Island rides may stop when it is below 0°C or above 30°C, when wind is around 7 to 14 m/s or more, or when rain is over 0.2 mm. VISITKOREA also suggests Lotte World as a good rainy-day choice because so much of it is indoors.

Everland is mostly outdoors. Its daily operation page warns that rides may stop in heavy rain, strong wind or low temperatures. Its closure list is updated weekly and can change without notice. On a cold, wet or windy day, Lotte World is usually the safer bet.

3. Who each park suits best

  • Families with small children: Lotte World is close, indoors, has a Kiddie Zone and is easy to leave early. Everland is great for animals (Zootopia, Safari World, Lost Valley), but the site is big and hilly.
  • Couples and friends: Lotte World fits an afternoon plus a Jamsil evening; Everland suits a full day of gardens, festivals, parades and fireworks.
  • Thrill seekers: Everland has Monimo RUSH, the wooden coaster formerly called T Express, which VISITKOREA describes as Korea’s first wooden coaster with a 56-meter drop. Lotte World has Atlantis (up to 72 km/h), the indoor French Revolution coaster with loops, and Comet Express.
  • Solo travellers: VISITKOREA says some Lotte World rides have a separate Single Rider line, which can shorten your wait.

4. How much time to plan

Lotte World: a half day to a full day. The official ticket page also sells an After4 ticket for entry after 4 p.m. Ticket sales and entry close one hour before closing.

Everland: plan a full day, plus travel time each way. VISITKOREA lists parades at 14:00 and 20:20 and fireworks at 21:20, and Everland’s daily page for 15 October 2026 also listed a fireworks show at 21:20. If you want to stay for the night show, check your bus or EverLine return before you go.

5. Tickets, foreigner discounts and online booking

Prices change by season and date, so use the official pages as your final check.

  • Lotte World: the official ticket page listed a Park Admission 1-Day ticket at 64,000 won for adults (19+) and a Full-Day Pass that also includes the Folk Museum at 67,000 won for adults on 15 October 2026. The page says Park Admission is not eligible for general discounts except special cases such as disability benefits.
  • Everland: VISITKOREA lists the One-Day Pass at 52,000 to 68,000 won for adults and teenagers, depending on the date. Everland also runs seasonal offers on its site and app.
  • Foreigner-only deals: VISITKOREA says tickets are usually cheaper online than at the gate and suggests checking global booking platforms and the parks’ own offers. Before buying a foreigner-only deal, check what is included, passport rules and refunds. Everland’s English map shows a ticket booth for foreign visitors near the main gate.

6. How to spend less time in line

Lotte World: Magic Pass

Magic Pass is a paid add-on, not an entry ticket. According to the official Magic Pass page:

  • It is a 5-use ticket in several versions (Light, Standard A/B, Premium), each covering different rides.
  • It is sold only in the Lotte World app, from 8:30 a.m. on the day; Premium can also be booked from two days before. It is limited and can sell out, with up to 4 per person and one pass per rider.
  • Atlantis, Comet Express, French Revolution and some others allow one Magic Pass ride each; KONGxGODZILLA THE RIDE and Lotty Train are excluded.
  • Weather stoppages on Magic Island are not grounds for a same-day refund.

Everland: Smart Queue and Q-Pass

Everland’s free Smart Queue (also called smart line-up or Smart Reservation) works in the official Everland app. You book a ride time online and come back to ride; Everland’s terms say it can be cancelled for weather or technical problems and can sell out. VISITKOREA says selected rides use it from 10:00 to 14:00, then switch to standby lines, and groups should register all tickets on one phone. Some Everland packages add Q-Pass priority boarding on named rides; check what each package covers.

For both parks, VISITKOREA’s advice is simple: arrive at opening, ride the most popular attractions first, and use the official app for live wait times.

7. Opening hours and closures: where to check

  • Lotte World: the official Park Hours & Schedule page shows each day’s hours and which rides are closed for inspection. On 15 October 2026 it showed 10:00 to 21:00; some days run to 22:00.
  • Everland: the official Daily Operation Information page shows the hours, rides and show times for each day. On 15 October 2026 it showed 10:00 to 22:00; VISITKOREA says hours vary by month.
  • Both parks close single rides for maintenance, so check your date if one ride matters.

8. Sample day plans

Lotte World + Jamsil evening

  • Morning: enter from Jamsil Station Exit 4 and do Magic Island first if the weather is good.
  • Afternoon: indoor rides, the 14:00 parade, and the Folk Museum if your ticket includes it.
  • Evening: walk over to Lotte World Tower for the Seoul Sky observatory and the lake at night. Read Jamsil evening: Lotte World Tower, what to check for timing and ticket tips.

Everland full day

  • Early: leave Seoul in time to reach the gate at opening, then book Smart Queue for your must-ride in the app.
  • Midday: Zootopia, the safari and Lost Valley, then lunch.
  • Afternoon: the 14:00 parade, gardens and smaller rides.
  • Evening: stay for the parade and fireworks only if your return transport works.

9. Checklist: how to choose

  • Check the forecast. Rain, strong wind, heat over 30°C or cold under 0°C favor Lotte World.
  • Count your travel time. Short on time or staying in Seoul for only a few days? Lotte World is far easier to reach.
  • Must-ride list: Monimo RUSH and the safari mean Everland; indoor dark rides and the Jamsil night view mean Lotte World.
  • Look at your date on the official hours and closure pages.
  • Install the official app (Lotte World or Everland) before you go and decide whether you need Magic Pass or Smart Queue.
  • Compare official prices with foreigner-only deals and read what is included.
  • For Everland, check your return shuttle, bus or EverLine time.

FAQ

Which is better on a rainy day, Lotte World or Everland?

Lotte World. Most of it is indoors. Some outdoor Magic Island rides may stop, but the indoor area keeps running. Everland is mostly outdoors, and rides may stop in heavy rain or strong wind.

Can I do both parks on the same day?

Not realistically. They are in different cities and each needs several hours.

Is Magic Pass included in a Lotte World ticket?

No. Magic Pass is a separate purchase in the Lotte World app, and you still need an admission ticket to enter.

Is Lotte World Adventure the same as Lotte World Tower?

No. They are neighbours in Jamsil with separate tickets, so they combine well in one day.
