Incheon to Gimpo Airport Transfer: Train, Bus or Taxi, and How Much Time to Allow

Updated October 14, 2026

Short answer: To connect from Incheon Airport (ICN) to a domestic flight at Gimpo Airport (GMP), you clear immigration and customs at Incheon, collect your bags, then travel to Gimpo by AREX all-stop train, airport limousine bus or taxi. Incheon Airport says the train and bus take about 30–40 minutes between the two airports. Add time for immigration, baggage, walking and domestic check-in, which usually closes 30 minutes before departure. If your connection is short, ask your airline whether it offers a domestic connection from Incheon itself.

Basis date: checked against Incheon Airport, Korea Airports Corporation (Gimpo) and Korean Air pages on 15 October 2026. Timetables and airline rules change, so confirm your own flights before you book.

Train, bus or taxi: the quick comparison

OptionChoose it whenWatch out for
AREX all-stop trainYour connection is tight and you want a travel time that does not depend on road traffic.Only the all-stop train stops at Gimpo; the nonstop express goes to Seoul Station. Station walks at both ends can be long with luggage.
Airport limousine busYou have large bags and prefer one seat from door to door.Road traffic can stretch the trip. Check where the bus stops at each Gimpo terminal.
TaxiYou travel as a family or group, or you are very tired after a long-haul flight.Highest cost and still affected by traffic. Show the driver “Gimpo Airport domestic terminal” in Korean.

1. What actually happens between the two flights

Korean Air describes the Incheon-to-Gimpo domestic transfer in two steps: claim your baggage, then go to Gimpo Airport. In practice the full sequence looks like this:

  1. Land at Incheon (Terminal 1 or 2, depending on your airline).
  2. Immigration: have your K-ETA or e-Arrival Card sorted before you fly. See K-ETA vs e-Arrival Card.
  3. Baggage claim and customs. Even if your bags are tagged through, check with your airline whether you must collect them at Incheon.
  4. Travel to Gimpo by train, bus or taxi.
  5. Domestic check-in and bag drop at Gimpo’s domestic terminal, then the ID check and security. Foreign passengers show their passport. See Flying domestic from Gimpo for ID and battery rules.

2. How much time to allow

There is no single official minimum for a self-made connection between two airports. Use the official parts you can check, then add your own buffer:

  • Incheon to Gimpo: about 30–40 minutes by train or bus, according to Incheon Airport, plus walking to and from the station or bus stop.
  • Domestic check-in: Korean Air says domestic check-in closes 30 minutes before departure. The Gimpo airport site says domestic ticketing and bag drop are generally available until 30 minutes before departure, depending on the airline.
  • Immigration and baggage at Incheon: these vary by time of day and queue length, so this is the part to pad most.

Our planning rule: if your two flights are on separate tickets, leave at least about three hours between landing at Incheon and departing from Gimpo, and more at busy times. This is Koreafolio’s planning suggestion, not an airline or airport rule. If the two flights are on one ticket, ask the airline what happens if the first flight is late. Do not assume an airport change is protected.

3. Taking the AREX all-stop train

  • Follow signs for the Airport Railroad at your Incheon terminal and use the all-stop platform. The express train is separate and does not stop at Gimpo.
  • Pay with a rechargeable transport card such as Tmoney, or buy a single-journey ticket from the machine. See T-money Complete Guide.
  • Get off at Gimpo International Airport station, then follow signs to the domestic terminal.
  • If you are going into Seoul instead, read AREX vs Airport Bus.

4. Taking the limousine bus or a taxi

Limousine buses run between the two airports in both directions. The Korea Airports Corporation lists route 6707A from Gimpo’s international and domestic terminals to Incheon, and VISITKOREA notes that at Incheon you buy limousine tickets in advance at the ticket offices, because cash and transport cards are not accepted on board. Check the current route number, timetable and Gimpo drop-off point at the ticket office before boarding.

A taxi is the simplest option with heavy bags or children, but it costs the most and sits in the same traffic as the bus. See the Seoul Taxi Guide for payment and receipts.

5. Ask about a connection from Incheon first

You may not need Gimpo at all. Korean Air operates Transit Exclusive Domestic Flights between Incheon Terminal 2 and Busan or Daegu for connecting international passengers. If you are heading to one of these cities, ask whether your ticket can use this connection instead of changing airports. From the Seoul area, most domestic flights, including those to Jeju, leave from Gimpo.

Before you book: a short checklist

  • Are both flights on one ticket, and does the airline protect the connection?
  • Which Incheon terminal do you land at, and which Gimpo terminal do you leave from?
  • Does your arrival time fall in a busy immigration period?
  • Is your transport card loaded, or do you have a card for the ticket machine?
  • Is your power bank in your carry-on, not your checked bag?
